Get Funded - Scottish Comedies - Comedy feature film in production
Silly Wee Films is proud to announce that it's second full-length feature film will be "Get Funded" which is a upbeat comedy about filmmaking in Scotland. We are teaming up with Glasgow based company Production Attic who will make up the majority of our technical crew, including director of photography, editors, camera assistant, sound operators, camera operators, script supervisors and casting assistants.
Produced by Ross Hardie and Robyn Mackinnon, we are looking to start pre-production as soon as possible, sourcing funding, crew and cast to shoot in July-August 2012 with a 2013 release date ear marked.
With our first feature film "Night is Day" in post-production which will be released in 2012, the team at Silly Wee Films are now looking ahead to the Summer of 2012, when, all going well, the cameras will start rolling on "Get Funded".
"Get Funded" will be the second feature film from writer/director Fraser Coull. Following on from "Night is Day", Fraser has learned invaluable skills as a filmmaker which he will take into making an upbeat, comedic look at filmmaking.
"Mark, Katie and Chris are three best friends who have been out of college for 3 years after studying filmmaking together. Writer Mark convinces producer Kate and hot-shot director Mark that his script is a winner, and with it made their filmmaking careers will be off to a flying start.
However our heroes hopes come crashing to a halt when the funding board tell them that their film just wouldn't fit in with today's markets, forcing them to face the possibility of a "normal life" in a world without film - their one true escape from their mundane lives.
Sweet, geeky Mark is still living at home with his disapproving father constantly trying to convince his son to live in the real world and take a job in a call centre like everybody else, forcing Mark to draw further and further into his own world where his film is real and he's the lead actor.
Head-smart Katie has escaped from her controlling mum's grip and is living in our own tiny flat while her rebellious sister will do anything to cause havoc at home, forcing Kate to constantly return to restore peace and harmony.
Meanwhile over confident director Chris is already living the life style of a successful director. Having directed a music video for an upcoming death metal band which just happened to get to number 1 in the download charts, Chris revels in his bottom level celebrity, allowing him to have a string of one night stands. Nothing will ever get in the way of Chris' two main loves - girls and film.
Determined not to be defeated our heroes come up with ideas ranging from sensible and safe to dangerous and damn right ridiculous including entering talent shows, looking for funding in seedy night clubs, robbing little old ladies tea rooms and exploiting men for money until they mess with the wrong man. "Business Entrepreneur" and cinema lover Kevin McDade, and his wise Uncle William become wise to our heroes mission and decide to get involved.
With the long arm of the law not far behind them, a constant fight over the ending of the film and Mark's undying love for Katie going unrequited, will our gang make it to their own premiere or will it all end up on the cutting room floor?"
The film is in the earliest stages of pre-production with our entire crew, cast, locations, equipment, costumes and props to be sourced. We will be seeking full funding to film in the Summer of 2012, hopefully in Scotland.
We are looking for sponsors and investors to help us fund the film so we can pay for equipment, locations, props, costumes, makeup and most importantly so we can pay our cast and crew for working on the film. We are offering investment packages and sponsorship perks so if you are interested please email contact@get-funded.co.uk.
If you would like to get involved in the crew we are looking for everybody except for Camera Operators, Production Managers, Sound Engineers, Visual Effects Animators and Composers. E-mail your CV and covering letter to careers@sillyweefilms.com
Castings will take place later and our character breakdown will be made available in the near future.
We are setting up an official website, in the meantime you can follow our progress on our Facebook Page.
